ZAGG intros a pair of Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad, three pairs of gaming headphones

Sometimes at trade shows we see funky-looking Windows 8 devices, other times we see bags filled with a morphing rainbow colors and sometimes we see things whose importance falls somewhere in the middle. That's the situation ZAGG finds itself in this week, as it tries to win attention at IFA amid dozens of laptop / tablet hybrids and 84-inch TVs. The company is in Berlin as we type this, showing off the new ZAGGkeys Pro and Pro Plus, two Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad. Both have a magnetic closure, but the Pro version adds backlighting. Those will be available at the end of September for $99 and $129, respectively. Additionally, the company announced a trio of Caliber gaming headphones, including the Stealth, a pair optimized for mobile devices, and the Axiom, which works with Macs, PCs, the Xbox and PS3. Both have in-line controls. Rounding out the list, there's the Vanguard, which offers 7.1 channel audio. Look for these in October, for $60, $90 and $130, respectively. The PR's embedded after the break, though you won't find much more detail there, sadly.

Mophie Outride ruggedized action case for iPhone hands-on

Sure, you've been tempted to strap your iPhone to that ski helmet for a homemade action cam solution, but ultimately, you respect Apple's warranty, as limited as it may be. Mophie's new Outride ruggedized case equips your fragile smartphone with a ruggedized shell, protecting the device while also serving as a helmet / bicycle / flat-surface mount. The thick plastic case includes a raised lens module, and is available in both water-resistant and above ground flavors. That first version is still undergoing testing, according to Mophie reps, so we don't know just how far it can dunk with letting down its guard to condensation, but we do know that it will retail for $149. A land-only version will also be available for $129, and unlike the sealed model, your iPhone's display will still be exposed, giving you full access to the device. Both cases include a dedicated shutter release, which works in camera mode, letting you snap away under the sea. They also ship with a trio of mounts for your helmet, handle bars or a flat surface. Catch a closer look at Outride in the gallery below.

Tim Cook and Larry Page reportedly chat about patent war

According to Reuters, Tim Cook and Larry Page have been having behind the scenes chats over the last week or so, most notably about the ongoing patent proxy war between the two companies. According to sources, the Apple and Google CEOs spoke last week over the phone and are planning a meeting where, hopefully, they can hash out some of their differences. Discussions are also apparently taking place at lower levels, which could indicate this is a concerted effort to put to rest the tiresome battles over intellectual property. Unfortunately, details about what exactly the two talked about and how broad those conversations were are unknown. But, it's definitely a good sign that the two sides are talking. Perhaps the relatively new corporate heads can avoid going completely "thermonuclear," as Cook's predecessor infamously threatened.

Update: All Things D has gotten confirmation from its own sources, and points out that Google is "wearing several hats here," including as the owner of Motorola Mobility which is currently suing Apple. However, we're still holding out hope that the licensing deal struck between those two companies is a sign of better days to come.

Square scores retail deal with AT&T, swipes smile off competitors’ faces

Been paying for your frappuccino via Square, and fancied getting some of that diminutive payment-taking action for your own business? Well, previously, if you didn't live near an Apple store, Radioshack, Walgreens, Fed Ex office, Best Buy, Target, UPS or Wal-Mart then you were fresh outta retail-luck. Or living in a cave. Now, however ATT has started stocking the card readers at all its bricks and mortar outlets too, further plumping-up that number of locations that stock it. Frankly, we're not surprised to see this reaching more shops, if the sales guys spend all their time drinking that brand-endorsed coffee.

Atari ports classic games to HTML5 for web and Windows 8, lets developers craft their own (video)

Atari is big on nostalgia this year, but it hasn't had much in the way of software to reflect the trip down memory lane beyond the existing mobile apps. Its remedy to that shortfall is full of 2012 buzzwords. The new Atari Arcade includes modern takes on eight classic Atari 2600 games, all built entirely with HTML5 and free to play. As fun as that promises to be, our interest is most piqued by the game library's open-ended nature; this isn't just an alternative to firing up a smartphone. A new Javascript kit lets developers not only build their own games but make money as they see fit, whether it's through ads or in-app purchases. Whether they're new or old, titles work in multiple contemporary browsers, although Microsoft would really, really like you to know that the games are ad-free and touch-optimized for both Windows 8 tablets as well as Internet Explorer 10. We'll try to remember that when we look to relive our Combat memories on a Surface.

Perfect sound can be heard, felt and seen: the new MOMENTUM from Sennheiser's Style Selection combines an excellent sound experience with high-quality material and minimalist style. The new headphones are the perfect choice for anyone unwilling to compromise on sound quality and style.

The MOMENTUM's minimalist design resolutely cuts out anything superfluous, making the headphones appear understated and stylish.

The high-quality, predominantly natural materials emphasise the headphones' pure aesthetics. Design and luxurious textures combined to create headphones that are the ultimate in comfort and feel. The headband and earpads are worked from soft and supple leather of the finest quality from traditional English tannery Pittards and are complemented by a headband slider crafted of premium stainless steel.

Pure sound experience

The MOMENTUM's sound is like its design: pure and unadulterated. Sennheiser made use of established technologies from the high-end headphone sector to ensure a clear stereo sound with excellent detail.

A 3.5mm stereo plug means the MOMENTUM can be connected to all current media players. For Apple products such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod there is an additional cable with integrated smart remote and microphone. Buttons set into the elegant metal casing allow you to adjust the volume, select music titles, take phone calls and activate voice control or personal assistant features. And the full size ear cups mean you can relax and enjoy your favourite sounds wherever and whenever you like.

"Our passion for perfection is apparent not only in the outstanding technology used in the MOMENTUM but also in its modern, distinctive design and selected premium materials," says Dominic Feeney, product manager at Sennheiser UK. "With striking yet minimalistic design, it makes the MOMENTUM the perfect accessory for those keen to display a passion for quality audio with a discreet and stylish authority."

The MOMENTUM can first be seen at this year's IFA. It will be available from selected Sennheiser sales partners including John Lewis and HMV from September at an RRP of £259.99.

Perfect sound never looked so good - Introducing the new CX 890i from Sennheiser

Sennheiser has announced the launch of a brand new premium headset, the CX 890i. Bringing together renowned Sennheiser technology, innovative materials and revolutionary design, the new CX 890i ear-canal headset features a glass-like finish with metal detailing to create a distinctive, minimalistic style.

The headset comes in two colour variants – black and white – with a matching cable for each colour. To make sure that the headphones are ready for use at any time, they have been fitted with a 3.5mm stereo jack, and the nominal impedance has been reduced for optimum connection to mobile players.

"The new Sennheiser CX 890i earphones are a perfect combination of top-quality sound and sophisticated design," explained Dominic Feeney Product Manager at Sennheiser UK. "They deliver sound to the renowned Sennheiser quality standards. High-performance dynamic transducers produce a true-to-nature sound with a highly detailed resolution.

"The glassy material creates an unusually smooth surface and domed appearance. Ear adapters in various sizes and fitting colours are also provided with the headset."

But it doesn't just stop with good looks. The CX 890i combines the signature Sennheiser sound with a frequency response between 17 and 23,000 hertz, plus an integrated smart remote control and microphone – especially for iPad, iPhone and iPod users. This can be used not only to adjust the volume and select tracks, but also to take phone calls and activate the voice control or personal assistant features. Simultaneously, outstanding passive noise attenuation guarantees undisturbed listening whatever your environment.

The new CX 890i earphones are available from September through selected Sennheiser sales partners including Dixon and HMV at an RRP of £119.99.
